Release notes for Author Magic, from the first version onward.
1.0
[RELEASE DATE]
The first release.
- Write: chapter editor with word targets and live counts; import from .docx, Markdown and plain text.
- Write it with AI: start from an idea, a spark or Surprise me; choose the shape; answer two questions; approve the pitch (titles, cast, outline, first page); then the book writes itself in the background, chapter by chapter, with pause, stop, resume and undo.
- The authorship dial: four levels, set for the whole book or per chapter. AI mode with brief, outline, chapter drafting, expand, shape, rewrite, trim and word-target tools. Review AI changes paragraph by paragraph; chapter history before every AI change.
- Any AI service: Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, OpenRouter, Ollama and LM Studio, plus any OpenAI-compatible service. A model for each job, keys in the macOS Keychain, cost estimates and a monthly limit.
- Author profiles: name, bios, photo and writing voice for you and your pen names.
- Story bible: characters, places, facts, timeline and who-knows-what; manuscript scan without a key; AI extraction and continuity checks with flags.
- Covers: 10 templates, and a cover studio with layers: text, shapes, icons, ornaments, patterns made from the title, your own images and AI art. KDP wrap geometry with bleed, safe-area and barcode checks; 1600-pixel-wide ebook cover.
- Format: 17 KDP paperback trim sizes, interior type and leading, your own house-style rules.
- Publish: print interior PDF with the gutter for its page count and embedded fonts; EPUB with accessibility metadata that passes epubcheck 5.2.1 with 0 errors; the KDP pack with a metadata sheet and AI-disclosure answers from your dial.
- Help: first-run walkthrough and a searchable Guide in the Help menu.
- For Mac (Apple Silicon). Light and dark themes.
